Hello lately my CPU has been hitting 50c at idle. I'm not sure why.
I reseated the cooler and added new thermal paste. I replaced the stock fans on my cooler. I am currently getting new chassis fans also. I set my bios to default settings. There's been a heatwave in my area lately, but today has been cool and its still happening. Any ideas would be appreciated. For the record I usually control my CPU fan with Corsair Link 4(at quiet unless I game) and chassis fans with Asus Fan Xpert at quiet also. My CPU fans react to the H11i's temp not the cpu's and its hitting 40c alot.

Thank you.

CPU: i7-6850k
Mobo: ASUS ROG STRIX X99
RAM: 32 GB Corsair Vengeance 2666hz

Cooler: Corsair H115i w/ 2x Notcua NF-A14
Paste: Noctua NT-H1
Case: Corsair Carbide Air (stock chassis fans, replacing them with 1x Noctua NT-A14 3x NF-S12B)

Too scared to take the risk. I reseated the cooler on the cpu again and it began to run 36ish again. But earlier I replaced my chassis fans with noctua ones and it appears I'm hitting 42 when idle now.

It seems to be properly installed. How would I know for sure?

What would be ideal temps? mid to late 30's? I'm ready to reapply the paste, my main concern is how tight to screw in the cooler on the cpu.

This is my current temps right now PC just started

The CPU is doing what? Idle temps are not important, but full load temps are. If you're scared to use the latest version of Prime95, then start with version 26.6. Temperatures should be below 80°C because unlike newer versions, it doesn't use the latest AVX instructions.

Yep still under warranty, they shipped me a new one, sending back the old one this weekend.

Hitting 34-36c on idle, cooler is not hitting above 34c.
