Hello guys!

Today I did what I was hesitating to since the past one year. I finally upgraded my graphics card software to the latest specifications. And turns out, it has the same problem as it had a year before. Basically I upgraded my stock AMD software to version 17.7.1 from the official website. I followed the steps and was instructed by the website that the aforementioned software is the latest for my laptop. I did a normal install first and tried to restart the first time and the system froze. The second time through, I did a clean install of the latest software (uninstalled the previous software with the help of DDU and then installed the new one) and after completion when I tried to restart the laptop it froze again. I had to follow the long press power button method twice in order to boot my laptop back which I completely hate and haven't dared to try and restart the laptop again as I'm afraid that there is a possibility that my files might get corrupted. I tried to report this issue to AMD (the software itself has a button to report an issue) and was lead to a page which has been deleted long ago. I also cannot find any solutions on the internet.

My computer specifications are as follows:
1. Intel core i7-3632QM 2.20GHz to 3.6GHz.
2. AMD Radeon HD 7700M series graphics.
3. 8GB Ram
4. 1TB HDD
5. Windows 8.1 Pro.
6. AMD Radeon Catalyst Control Centre software version 17.7.1.

There was a solution on some other page but it was for the crossfire enabled graphics which involved turning off the crossfire option and editing the registry by setting the "EnableUlps value to 0". Now I looked into my software and from what I can deduct I don't have the crossfire option because my machine isn't a desktop and I only have a single card in my system (it's a laptop). So I'm stuck here with no answer as to how do I fix this issue. I cannot restart my machine from the fear of it freezing again and me resorting to unconventional methods to turn off my machine which can prove hazardous.

Please help!

Hello gasaraki
I used the software which you have mentioned in the link to clean install the new version. The same link has actually been chosen on the official AMD forum as the best software for a clean install. It's very funny how AMD people are so lazy that they have actually agreed that DDU is a better option than their official removal software XD.
