Today i built a new pc, with specs:
Cpu: Ryzen 5 1600
gpu: gigabyte gtx 1070
motherboard: ASROCK ab350m pro 4
power supply : EVGA 650 GQ, 80+ GOLD 650W (amazon)
cpu cooler: deepcool gammax 400
memory: 2x8gb corsair venegance 2400 ddr4
I have been testing the system using gtav on as close to max settings as possible ( was hoping for fully max settings @ 60fps on 1080p)
After a minute or two, a strange buzzing seems to be coming from the PSU. It sounds similar to if you put a bit of paper in a fan or something like that (there's nothing obstructing the fans). I searched around the problem, and most people suggest coil whine but almost always because of an old corsair CX series, and they advise getting an EVGA or seasonic psu to solve the problem. However my power supply is brand new. The noise only happens when on peak load. My temps haven't gone above 61 for GPU and 35 for CPU. It only happens for a few seconds and then it stops. about 10-20 seconds later it happens again, and the cycle repeats.
Have I got a faulty PSU which is dangerous? Is the noise only annoying and has no chance of being harmful on it's own? Do I need to RMA the power supply (or return to amazon - prime).
