I was entered into a new reality show where they give two teams a lot of money and tell them to build the best computer possible and the winner gets to keep it. The catch is they give the money to idiots (like me). Any motherboard recommendations for a 1080 gtx graphics card, i9 processor, and can handle a lot of ram

Well, I would go with a 1080Ti rather than 1080 if money was not an object here... thats just a start.

32GB of RAM sure, but I would go for 4 x 8GB and not 2 X 16GB of DDR4, to populate more channels and have the higher bandwidth that comes, as well as lower latency and higher speeds offered in greater abundance in the 8GB matched versions then in 16GB sticks currently still.

Motherboard, you want something robust without all the bells and whistles or you want something blinging with a load of extras that slows down the loading/POST/booting etc ? Can you better describe your relative idea of what the best PC is, because this is a relative thing for people these days.
