Recently my I5 6600K has started to perform sluggishly in all video games that I test. Just last week I was getting normal usage across daily tasks, and during gaming. But now even when in loading screens my CPU usage is hammered to 100%. and during CPU intensive games like Battlefield 1 my frame rate is getting crippled down into the teens of fps. http:// What could be causing these issues all of the sudden and how can I resolve them? The rest of my PC consists of GTX 980TI, 16Gb ddr4 ram, 600w Bronze EVGA PSU. 1TB HDD.

For me, the first thing to do is check your CPU temperatures to make sure it isn't thermal throttling. If it is, then you'd need to clean the CPU cooler, remove the old thermal paste and apply new thermal paste. Would also suggest cleaning the PC of dust with compressed air while you're at it.

Following that... I would suggest something like MSI Afterburner to check on various components' frequencies, temperatures, usage, fps and frametimes to see what is happening in your system.

Then there's the possibility there's something to do with the game installation itself which may need repairing.

As it is, it's hard to say; but the above should be a starting point.
