Hello,

Yesterday when I opened my user the screen went yellow, so I restarted the computer. The motherboard screen came up as always but there were pixelated vertical lines on the screen (I'll add pictures in the bottom).

Then it proceeded to the windows loading screen and then a black screen with the mouse and keyboard seemingly off. I tried to restart many times until I got into safe mode and it worked. I could get into windows but the pixelated lines stayed. I tried removing the graphics card's drivers and reinstalling a version which for sure worked before. That didn't help. I also tried completely formatting windows but the lines stayed. On Safe mode it started to get even worse, when after a couple of minutes the screen would go black so I needed to restart again. The last thing I tried is connecting the screen straight to the motherboard's built graphics card. It worked perfectly.

It's worth mentioning that the pixelated lines always appeared on both of my monitors so I don't think it could be a problem with a specific output connection because both the VGA and the HDMI outputs showed the lines.

I figured my graphics card is going to die soon, but I wanted to be sure. So my first question is: from what I have explained, is the problem 100% related to the graphics card?

And if yes, what graphics card should I buy? My situation is that I don't have a lot of money and I plan to buy a new computer only next year, so I need a cheap, good solution for the upcoming year. I thought about getting the gtx 1050 ti.

Computer package (for a new card, to know if it fits the package with it's size):

Thank you very much!

Dude the text format is unbearable to read. Dont do a paragraph with 4 lines then randomly switch to two lines.

It does indeed sound like it is your dedicated graphics card that is on the fritz here.

Had you not mentioned the lines were identical on both screens, while one being digital and one being analogue, I would have said check the cables because of the lines, but you also mentioned black screen.

I could also suspect the driver or the PCIe slot - my reasonling for this is you DID get into windows before the issues, or did I misread that ?

If the lines persist also when booting or in bios, or elsewhere when on the dedicated card, like put in a windows installation USB and see if the lines/graphical issues persist while your not in windows - that would be a sure sign that even as a basic microsoft adapter - software it is not responding perfectly. If there are no issues except when in windows - even when in safe mode, then i would run DDU and install latest WHQL driver from safe mode with an admin prompt.

If issue persists, to be thorough I would clean the gutters of the card, let it get cool to the touch too, and then try another PCIe slot. Review the case from there and let me know what happens, I can make further recommendations.
