Hi this is my setup https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nZNg9W

This was a pc i bought prebuilt on Amazon years ago the only part i added was the XFX RX 470 and Ive only played light games like hearthstone lately and I have not done heavy gaming on this pc in a while because whenever the pc was under heavy gaming the screen would occasionally loss the hdmi connection but a few seconds later it would come back and that was annoying so i just used it for normal usage. Today i felt like playing some overwatch in 4k resolution and my pc was running fine for a while at over 100 fps low settings and then suddenly again the screen hdmi connection was lost but it came back like 10 seconds later so i thought nothing of it and kept on with my competitive match. In the next match as i was playing i heard a Loud Pop and the computer shut off and it smelled. Few minutes later i opened up the pc and the smell seemed to be coming from the PSU. Please help im not sure if its the psu or what i tried looking if something eles looks messed up but i dont know what im looking for everything on rhe motherboard still seems the same to me. If you think it was the PSU can you please suggest a good PSU i can replace it with? Im left with no pc and nothing to do my pc was everything to me lol. Id also like to upgrade everything in my pc but first id like to get my computer working again so a psu comes first if you think thats the problem. Is any psu compatible with my setup? Id like to get a good psu that will be good for future upgrades. Thank you for your help

Oh im not sure if thats my cpu i cant quite remember but it was ethier that or fx 4150 or fx 4350 or something like that. Also a small blue led light on the case that always was on still turns on when i connect the power cable to the pc but when i click the power button to turn it on nothing happens.

I'm guessing that $30 power supply took a dump. The power supply is the most important component in any build. It literally powers everything else. Take it out of your case and smell it. Hopefully it's just the PSU. If the PSU doesn't smell fried, look closely all over the motherboard and at the connectors of all the other devices.

Well that psu is basically a throw away unit I'd guess you were correct that it fried.

First step is to replace it. Second step is to cross your fingers it died alone. If some pop a new on in and enjoy. However a death for a psu can literally kill every part in a pc. So if it's toast then you're likely looking at a rebuild as the rest of your pc isn't worth spending more money on. Especially since diagnosing exactly the right part in a dead pc is tough

Will the 620w version of the modular work with my build? Is it the same thing but more power? It only costs $6 more than the 520w on newegg its called SeaSonic M12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply. I cant find it on pcpartpicker to verify that it will work

Hey guys so i replaced the power supply with the suggested 620w seasonic and my computer now works again ! :) thanks for your help. but there is still the issue of Hdmi signal loss during heavy gaming on overwatch so far ive tried reconnecting the RX 470 gpu and changing hdmi cables. I game on a 55 inch samsung ks8500 4k TV can that be the cause? or can it be because i game at 3840x2160 resolution? my fps is fine when i play so im not sure what is the cause of the hdmi loss. i have overwatch on low settings but at 4k Now im scared my psu will fry again during gaming maybe i shouldnt even play anymore :/ ugh

the resolution will not damage the new PSU. the PSU can now handle any draw the 470 needs, no problem.
make sure you have high speed HDMI cables for 4K. have you tried a different graphics driver, does the disconnect issue persist?

I was first using the hdmi that came with my pc but then i switched to the HDMI 2.0 cable that came with the ps4 pro and the problem still persists. I have just been updating my gpu drivers as they come and nothing changes i think its even getting worse when i watched youtube videos or stuff in full screen sometimes the whole display and picture will turn all colorful and glitchy. im looking for other drivers i can try i think first step is to buy a new hdmi. I suck at choosing stuff like this but this should be a good cable right? --> https://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Cable-High-Speed-18Gbps/dp/B0739Y48V5/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1505204557&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=4k%2Bhdmi%2Bcable&th=1

again thanks alot for your help!:)

sometimes i start to think maybe the rx 470 is faulty and i really hope thats not the case as it was really hard to save up the money for it :/ also everytime i update the drivers it says it only partially installed

You don't deal with Newegg after 30 days, you contact the manufacturer of your GPU for warranty service.
