Hello, I have Intel i5 7600, GTX 1080, 16GB RAM. Right now I have 250 motherboard. So I know that I cannot OC that 7700k, maybe in the future if I change the MB. Intel i5 7600 is from 3,5 to 4,1 Ghz and 7700k is from 4,2 to 4,5 Ghz. It is good idea to change i5 for i7? I can buy new i7 for cca 240 eur and also I can sell that i5, so I think it will be -100eur balance for me. I want it for VR gaming. (I know that i5 7600 is good enough for VR but I want to have CPU with longer VR lifespan. For example upcoming Projec Cars 2).

PS:I also think about new i5 coffe lake, but then I need to buy new MB imediatelly, and it will be even more expensive.

Solution
I would suggest that you use what you have right now. Then, update when your current hardware can't do what you want. If you buy now for "just in case" you may need it in the future, you'll find better hardware in the future and you'll wish that you hadn't done the upgrade now.
The question you should be asking yourself is "Do I need the extra performance from 7700K right now?" If not then wait and as you plan to buy a new mobo in the future then better wait and buy both at same time for the new Coffee Lake.
Only change CPU right now if you need the extra performance right now.

We are not really at the 'i5 is inadequate' stage yet....; it faces struggles sometimes, but, generally still provides high peak/average framerates in most titles...; I'd not be throwing $350 into an upgrade until no longer satisfied with current performance. (YOu can evaluate 8600K/8700K performance next month)
