Hey guys, my game has been crashing every few games in pubg and other games. The screen will turn black and I get the tdr delay error with the nvidia driver not responding. But in league my game will only freeze and alt tabbing will fix it. Seems to happen in gpu and cpu intensive games.
I am currently trying to monitor my gpu when my game crashes and noticed everything dropping.

Does it also crash with other applications? Have you tried running Prime95 to stress test? Need to find out if it's affecting video games only, or if it's a general issue with your PC.

Also, posting your computer's specs will help.

Sorry forgot to update specs. Never tried a stress test before but I'll look up primetest; but so far my games will black screen and crash while my computer is still running fine when I alt tab.
Specs:
Gtx 660 (Yea I know old but I'll upgrade when I can)
i5-4690K
16gb ripjawx ram
Asus z97A

Try Prime95 and the Unigine Heaven benchmarks (Google it). Let it run for about a few hours (6 hours or so). Take note of temperatures using something like the ASUS AI Utility. Check GPU and CPU temps.

Also, what's your power supply? A low-quality power supply unit (PSU) can contribute to instability. It doesn't matter if you're alt-tabbing or whatnot. Any kind of crashing, you should always test for stability.

Do the stress test and see if it crashes. Try as many other 3D apps or games. I also recommend 3dMark. We want to see when it fails.

Also, to check the obvious:

  • OS updated? win7 or win10?
    All drivers updated?
    Antivirus/antimalware scan done?
Any background apps running? If Windows 10, try disabling stuff like the Xbox Game DVR. since you're using NVIDIA, are you using the GeForce Experience app? Try turning that off and just use the base drivers. Turn off any other background apps in the system tray or anything else.

Good luck!

I've left heaven on for 6 hours but haven't been monitoring it due to school and work. It hasn't crashed when I came home so far. I'll try 3dMark next after I try a prime test.
I just recently had it sent into my local computer repair store (memory express in Canada) due to some problems with my window installation and they installed it for me. I've updated my drivers using drive booster 4 and ddu'd and reinstalled my graphics driver multiple times to no avail. I only installed the displayer driver and physx system as I read they are the only ones needed; no geforce is installed. I dont believe I have any other applications running in the background.
I am on windows 7 sorry.
