i had 8GBs(2 x 4 GBs) kingmax ddr3 1600mhz rams and they were running at 1600mhz frequency but then i decided to get another 8 GB so i got a Corsair 8GB ddr3 1600mhz and now my rams are running at 1333mhz,i tried to change the frequency in bios AI tweaks and chose XMP then saved and quit but the pc froze and it took a long time like 45 mins then i had to unplug the power to boot up again and it gave me the warning overclocking failed,i tried manually doing that as well to no avail.my pc specs are as follows:
MO: p8z77-v.its just p8z77-v i think it must have been the first gen p8z77
cpu:cori7-2600k 3.40ghz
ram:2x4gb kingmax 1600mhz + 1x8gb corsair 1600mhz
power:GP530A_EU green 530 watt

Solution
Ever since dual channel memory was introduced (then triple, and quad) memory needs to work in 'sets' to get the best performance. By adding 1, 8GB stick to a set of 2, 4GB sticks, you are forcing the MB to work in single channel (slower) mode. Also, by buying unmatched sticks (adding a corsair to 2 kingmax) you MB just dropped down to a slower 'compatibility' mode.

Either return the 1, 8GB and buy 2 more of the same kingmax (even though they still might not work well together since they didn't all come in one kit), buy another corsair of the exact same stick (you may still have compatibility issues since you didn't buy them in a matching kit), or, return the corsair and purchase a 2x8GB kit (best option).
