Please advise - Usable RAM

Hi,

I have 6GB RAM and System Properties only shows 1.7GB usable. I'm not actually a tech savvy person. How do I maximize my RAM? I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

SPECS:
Motherboard: EMX-A58FM2+HD-iCafe
Processor: AMD A8-7600 Radeon R7, 10 Compute Cores 4C+6G, 3100 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
RAM: 4GB DDR3 - 1866 AND 2GB PC3 -10660

I don't have any graphics card but I'm planning to get one. What kind of GPU will I get?

PC3 -10660 is 1333MHz memory.

Supported memory for A8-7600 is DDR3-2133MHz. Oddball RAM combinations are not guaranteed to be compatible. Memory manufacturers guarantee the rated speeds of any memory to be obtainable only in the kit it is sold in.

The thing is I'm getting more than 1.7GB before and I can run my games smoothly. It suddenly changed after my PC restarted

That's it then.
Your operating system is sharing RAM with your onboard video card. If you don't run graphics intensive programs or games you can usually adjust this by going into the video card control panel. Even if you have the option I wouldn't go below 2GBs given to the card.

You may need to adjust this in BIOS not in Windows.
