RAM unrecommanded position consequences ?

Hello guys .

I have a MSI 99A gaming pro carbon, and I just changed my watercooling for a bequiet! dark rock 3 ventirad ( watercooling too noisy )

Due to the height of my ram ( Corsair Vangeance LED ) I had to put them in the slots 1-2 and 7-8, because otherwise the ventirad wouldn't fit. It’s not recommended due to that dual channels thing I don’t understand but everything is going fine now, booting easy.

What is the worst that could happen now ?

Solution
When I said memory intensive I didn't mean necessarily takes up a lot of space in memory, but rather involves a lot of memory I/O. In that case, having more memory wouldn't help make up for the lower bandwidth.

okay I just saw a video that explained that if you don't do dual channel you loose 3-4% memory efficiency .. which is okay lol. Thanks for that answer !

Basically you're running your memory in dual channel, rather than the full quad channel that Intel's HEDT (High End DeskTop) CPUs support. This reduces you total memory bandwidth. However, as said above, unless you're running benchmarks or memory-intensive applications, you're unlikely to notice a difference.

I'm running a lot of memory intensive stuff but I have 32G so I guess it should fit almost anything. Thank you for that answer !

Okay, I see what you mean. I'll try to benchmark both and see what happens . Thanks !
