reallocated sector count

I have a Seagate 1tb storage drive that aida 64 reports it saying reallocated sector count. but then on the right it says ok:value is normal. so is the drive ok or not? here is exactly what it says ID Attribute Description Threshold Value Worst Data Status
05 Reallocated Sector Count 36 99 99 55 OK: Value is normal

sounds like it found some bad sectors on the drive. see if the program can do a surface test on your HDD and if not find some other HD diag program to do a more in depth test

ya but it says value is normal, so is it normal or should I replace the drive?

if it marked a sector bad or it was somhow marked before then the drive could still appear normal because it is avoiding it

You can also do a long test using our free diagnostic tool SeaTools to check the health of the drive.

All drives are suspect, until they completely die. Then it is 100% known bad.
This is why we have backups.

I had a 5 week old drive go from 100% brand new good to non responsive in about 36 hours.
