so
my room is the other side of the house from the internet router so i got a wireless wifi extender and had a wired connection from that to my pc, i had this setup for about 2 years. then today i moved the router down to my room and now have a wired connection straight from my router to my pc.
but when i tried to download something from steam i only got a maximum of 1.9MB/S when before i got 2.4MS/S max (and no its not a problem of megabytes, megabits)
can anyone help plz?

Solution
that's an extremely small difference.
There's no real hardware reason it should be that slow, unless... your router is one of those incredibly old ones that only have like 10Mbps ports but slightly faster wifi.
That was like more than a decade ago though when that was the case.
Steam is a bad measurement tool.

but uhh how did you "move the router down to your room"?
it's possible the cable is so long it loses some power.
Possibly the Category of ethernet cable you used was old as well?
