How to Overclock RAM

I'm still confused with how to overclock my RAM. I purchased 3000 MHz sticks for my MB, which says that it can OC to that speed. Whenever I enable A-XMP though and overclock the RAM, my computer will give six beeps and keep restarting. When I set the speed lower on my own, however, it would still beep, but it would eventually boot up to the login screen. Do I need A-XMP on when I'm overclocking the RAM speed on my own (don't know what it exactly does)? I haven't tried an OC without it on yet though to see if it stops the beeping. I know people have mentioned updating the BIOS or fiddling with some CPU settings to fix the problem.

For my specs:
MB - MSI Gaming Pro Carbon AM4
RAM - 16 GB 3000 MHz Corsair Vengeance RGB
CPU - Ryzen 5 1600

All I want for my RAM is basically to be able to get as much out of it as for what I paid for it. It's only running at 2133 MHz.

Also, is it possible to OC the actual RAM to more than what it's rated at, not just what the MB is rated at handling. For example, putting mine at 4000 (although that's probably pushing it!).

I know I wrote a lot here, but I'm kinda new to RAM overclocking

Solution
Ryzen itself has weak memory overclock capability and is riddled with memory compatibility issues, especially prior to the 1.0.0.6 AGESA update so make sure that you have a BIOS version that is at least that recent.

There are no guarantees that your CPU itself is capable of ever hitting 3000+MT/s regardless of what DIMM or motherboard you buy, some chips simply can't do it and AMD itself only specs up to 2666MT/s for a single single-sided DIMM per channel. Buying DIMMs that have been specifically designed for Ryzen only increases your chances of getting there without significant additional effort, it doesn't guarantee it.

If 3000Mhz is the stock speed, then yes, just turn it up in your bios with either the bus frequency or the ram speed. But if your stock speed is lower then 3000 and thats what u have it at the moment on. Then I wouldn't try getting it any higher.

Thank you guys for all the input! Actually things seem to be working much better now after I finally updated my BIOS. Instead of 2133, I am now getting 2800. Still not ideal, but much better than what I had before!
