It's an Acer Aspire 7250G, a friend gave it to me for fixing. And if I don't fix it and give it back to him like this he'll be pretty pissed off.

I create the bootable usb with same OS version already installed (Win7 Home premium x64) I format the hard drive (including system reseved and OEM reserved) from windows installation window and start the install process.

During installation, at the second step (getting files ready or expanding files or something like that) in 4 different tries, at random % stage laptop just shuts down and other 2 times when I select the usb in the boot menu it shows a blue screen with no error code, just that pc has run into trouble and shuts down again.

I backed up his files through ubuntu live cd before formatting. Tried later to install ubuntu to see if it shuts down and it didn't, it boots just fine after installation.

Tried a windows 10 installation disk and same result, tried windows 7 from a dvd instead of usb and same result. No relevant options in BIOS.

I read somewhere that since it's OEM licensing based, the key is stored in the bios and windows is activated automatically during install, but I don't understand how can that cause the laptop to shutdown.

I'm getting pretty desperate since I can't find any solution. Even considered installing Win7 on a virtual drive on my desktop, clone it and paste the copy on the laptop through ubuntu, might try it if nothing else works.

UPDATE: I used a different ISO (untouched) of Win7 downloaded today, it somehow got THROUGH with the installation, it now actually boots into Windows. The shutdowns are still present however. At the activation screen before finalizing installation, after inserting the product key under the laptop, after a few seconds it shut down again. After reboot, I skipped the process and I made it to the desktop. I let it idle for 2 minutes and it shut down. I boot it again and it shows a quick blue screen and some codes i didn't catch. I boot again and it gives me the option to repair, after which it shuts down during the process.

What the hell is going on.

After a lot of trial and error, I found out that the cooling system wasn't working properly. I couldn't know that since in bios it doesn't show temperature information, I disassembled it and cleaned up the fan, it's lubrication liquid was almost gone as well and there was almost a wall of dust preventing air to flow properly. One blue screen error was "windows fatal system error coooo21a", which after some research led me to the actual problem.

I know it is pretty simple solution but try checking the RAM you may have a memory issue caused by a damaged RAM component. If the laptop has more than 1 Ram stick take one out then try if it still persists then take that stick out and try the other one. If it still persists after that you may need new RAM.
