Hello,

this is my first pc build so I'm not sure what I've done wrong.

cpu = fx8350
gpu = asus geforce 1050 ti (oddly enough, it says its powered by only motherboard power and have zero ways to plug it into the psu)
ram = ddr3 timex 2 sticks
hdd = 2tb barracuda
mobo = gigabyte 78lmt-usb3
psu = 700w

I have connected a computer monitor via VGA to the mobo, power on computer... all fans running on cpu, gpu, psu, etc... I hear 1 short "beep" which leads me to believe it's posting, but there is zero display.

I have gone through the mobo to make sure things are seated correctly but to no avail. i have also tested the computer monitor on my laptop and verified that it's vga connection does function.

Feels stupid man, I plugged hdmi into gpu and she's purring like a kitten. I would delete this thread if I knew how. Terribly sorry to bother you all!!

I have no clue really what to do beyond this point, any ideas?

My understanding is some people are happy with that board / cpu combo, but say don't overclock. Other people say don't do it. From posts I've seen it seems the opinions on that board is it is marginal for stability and that the chip is really pushing the limits of power delivery it is capable of providing.

The fx-8350 has no integrated gpu, so the motherboard video will not give you any picture. the NVida 10xx series has done away with analog, so VGA will not do you any good. You need a digital connection to your monitor from the graphics card, not the motherboard. (HDMI / DisplayPort / DVI )
