Hi all, I'm looking to build my first PC, here is the part selection on PC part picker.

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions to get a better bang for my buck or other components to swap out with.

Here is the list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/GXW69W

How does it look? All help is appreciated. Thanks very much.

You don't need 850W of power unless you plan on upgrading your system to something VERY beefy. 500-600W would do that system justice. Based on this build I'm assuming you're going to be gaming, so you're probably gonna need more than 500GB of storage to store everything. Get a 1tb HDD with the money you'll save by getting a lower wattage power supply.

Looks all good. But couple of suggestions.

> The 1070 you have chosen is available from $610 and pretty bad value. For $673 you can get the more powerful 1080 which you should replace... https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/FwcMnQ/msi-video-card-geforcegtx1080armor8goc

> Wait a month or so and get the more powerful 8700k coming out around same price.

> Your power draw is somewhere in the 400w region and you dont need a 850w PSU. Its way overkill and you can save some money there.

my suggestions.
the case is way expensive and if the case is a deal-breaker please ignore the rest.
the power supply was reduced to 650W G2
850 Evo dropped for SATA M.2 drive WD blue and added 1TB hard drive
1070 swapped out for a 1080 and build is about 50 dollars less.
Do you need the optical drive?

Hi all, thanks for the suggestions. My reasoning for the 850W PSU is if I ever wanted to run SLI in the future. Is that still too high of a PSU for that?

Also I can remove the DVD drive as I probably won't need that.

Thanks again all.
