AMD FX to Intel?

Alright so I'm just wondering if I should switch from the AMD FX series as I'm very limited with possible CPU upgrades.

I was possibly considering Intel or Ryzen, but what's a good cheap Intel/Ryzen CPU and motherboard combo which will out perform the AMD FX 6300 while still giving me massive upgrade room?

I plan to use my PC for gaming and gaming only.

For gaming an Intel G4560 or the Ryzen 1200 can out perform a 6300. What you can get depends on the budget as both are pretty much going to require a a new motherboard and ram.

Gaming only?

If you can wait a bit, get a brand new CoffeeLake(Intel) System.

If you're willing to upgrade now, a budget approach is:
Intel -> G4560 + B250 Mobo + DDR4 RAM
AMD -> Ryzen 3 1200 + B350 Mobo + DDR4 RAM

Both optiond will obliterate your current FX CPU in any game/benchmark.

Ah okay, well in terms of budget it's very limited, just looking for cheapest regardless.

I was mainly making this post for some ideas once a budget is available.

I'm really looking into the Ryzen 3 1200 you suggested, pretty good and plenty of room to upgrade I see.
