asus rog laptop makes weird hard drive noises?

so 9 months ago i got a new asus rog gl702vm and im really happy with it, but i noticed today that it started making weird grinding noises, i think its because today i got a lock for my locker for school and i played with it around the laptop and i think it has magnets and <<watch the language please>>. up the hard drive in some way or another, the grinding noice usually happens when i play an old version of csgo for about a minute, then i exit it out and it stops grinding that much, oh and the game is installed on partition D which is the hard drive, i also have a 256GB SSD for my OS, can someone please explain to me whats happening to my hard drive? is it time to say goodbye?

Grinding and hard drive in the same sentence is always a bad thing. Not sure why magnets would make it grind though not out of the realm or possibility i guess, the bigger issue would be data being erased around those. But being a laptop and being clunked around you may have slowly damaged the HDD or you just got a crappy one to begin with. If you laptop has an SSD at least your OS isn't at risk. I would plan on getting a new HDD in the nearish future. If it is grinding, it won't last long.

it seems like its fixed, after i put out the lock outta the room, i suppose it had magnets that made the hard drive malfunction, it doesnt make any grinding noises just the usual spinning noises a hard drive does, also another optional question:
i have all of my games installed on my hard drive, and all of them have FPS drops every 3 seconds, if i move them to my SSD will it stop? oh and also gta 5 is the primary and most noticeable game

Moving them to SSD may help IF the FPS drop is due to Input Output issues. Games like Doom 2016 can have issues on standard HDDs for its heavy use of IO. Putting DOOM 2016 on an SSD can be the difference between smooth and stutters, for some users though not all. Point being if IO is your issue behind your FPS drops going to your SSD will fix it. It is easy enough to test. If you test a game out and your still having issues. It is more likely your CPU, GPU or ram are at fault. Try those games on your SSD and let me know if things are the same or fixed.
