I want to upgrade my GPU from 770 2gb to 980 gtx. i have 2 options in my country or gettiing the Gigabyte GTX980 4GB GAMING-4GD or getting the 1060 GTX 3gb.
I want to oc my card and get more performance also so what are ur thoughts because thats what my money can afford or u have another suggesations
My rig: 770 gtx 2gb msi
i7 4790k
16gb ram 1600mhz hyper x fury
PSU 550W VS Corsair

Solution
i'd choose the 1060 over the 980, especially with your PSU, the heavy power-draw from the 980 might endanger ur rig, since that PSU is on the low quality category...

980 is only bout 10-13% but 1060 is more power efficient and had better compability + performance in DX12 games
(Pascal's architecture had better compability with DX12 than Maxwell's)

Suggestion:
1060 3 GB, or if u can find a 6GB on good price, get that instead
a better PSU, for the sake of your rig :)

My question is how i was able to use and oc the 770 if its taking more power from the 980? btw thank u and one more question why 980 will preform less better in dx12 it doesnt depands on the drivers or its the architecture?

architecture will affect it too, from the info that i've heard, 980's performance in DX12 is pretty much on par with the R9 line up (the AMD's rivaling counterpart)
this happens because AMD's GCN architecture had much better compability with the DX12 than Maxwell's...
however, Pascal manage to close that gap up, so right now Pascal against Polaris are pretty much trading blows on DX 12...

i never said u can't OC it, u might just risk your PC, since both your CPU and GPU are unlocked, and the PSU is a low quality, it doesn't have any safety precaution
for the sake of your PC, it's safer to go with a tier 1 / 2 PSU instead (it's the recommended tier for overclockers, both CPU and GPU)
for the GPU overclocking, i suggest u stick with the 100% power draw, don't extend it, just get the most stable core clock speed ur PC can manage with the same amount of power draw, it should increase ur performance a bit more without having the GPU to pull more power :)

the wattage listed on the PSU, is the maximum peak it can handle most of the time, not the stable wattage it can provide...
i won't dare to overclock [CPU in this case] on a low quality PSU, unless the wattage gap is pretty big

Thank u for the information but i got a mistake in my rig its not 4790k its 4790 and i never overclocked a cpu because i think its a waste of time. nowadays cpu strong enough to handle games.
i know my psu is crap but why is it so important to upgrade? it might bottleneck my componenets? if not i dont think to upgrade it now but sure in the future
thank u for ur help man very helpfull!!!

safety measure, low quality PSU doesn't have that, meaning if there's suddenly a power surge and ur PSU got fried, it can fry your motherboard (and most of the thing attached to it as well)

here's a dicussion about it:
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3212902/safe-buy-low-quality-psu.htm
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1625798/effects-bad-quality-power-supply-gaming-performance.html

since u're not OCing, the VS would be fine... for now
but i'd still recommend u to upgrade ur PSU when u had the money :)

no, PSU had nothing to do with bottlenecks
not enough wattage = no boot
enough = boot
it's job is to power up and protect your PC, that's all, the protecting part is where the low quality usually lacks

thank u very much for ur time. i will probably upgrade my PSU i didnt knew he is so much crap i read about him he is OK not more than that he is for desktops...BTW i will go for the 980 more oc capabilities and less temprature because the good 1060 costs a lot for no good reason. because of this mining craziness not only AMD prices are effected also Nvidia :( . i sold my old 7870 xt for more than i bought it xD

ok then, i hope u're content with the GPU u're getting :)

nice rig btw, meanwhile im still stuck with a 1050ti and i5 2400 XD
