Hi I have here a very old board, Intel D946GZIS with E2160 cpu and 4gb ram which is still running xp. Somebody has asked me if its possible to install windows 7 64bit for them.

I think the cpu is 64 bit capable and the board can probably install windows 7 fine but will I be able to install all the correct drivers?

I don't want to go ahead and try it yet as I have seen some posts elsewhere (from years ago) stating they couldn't get correct audio drivers etc.

If anybody has done an easy installing on this board or knows if its possible either way please let me know,
thanks in advance

Thanks for the replies. Think I will leave xp on the machine. Install some anti virus like avast and then point the person towards an upgrade bundle from ebay or something.

Yes max 4gb, I stuck the extra ram in with the intention of installing windows 7.

Bit frustrating but don't want to mess about with somebody elses machine/data if there is a chance some drivers wont work on installing windows 7.
