My CPU (AMD A10-7860K) is at 80 celsius when hardly anything is running. Is this dangerous and if so why would this be happening/how can I fix it?

Solution
Before you start looking at fixing it, make sure you're getting the correct reporting on it. Depending on the tool you're using, you may not be getting accurate numbers.

I'd read through this first and see if your thermal margins are putting you in to bad place.

Then look at how to correct things if needed. If you are accurately at 80°C then you are overheating as AMD states that CPU has a max temp of 71.30° C
