Is now a bad time to build a PC?

Solution

About two years.
But, I have no more inside info than anybody else here.

Why not build using integrated graphics initially?
G4600 Has HD630 graphics which might be comparable to a $70-$100 graphics card.
That is ok for games that are not fast action.
One can add a strong discrete $200 card later.

RAM is bananas too.

Last summer bought 32gb DDR4 2400MHz Crucial sticks for $105 on Prime Day... Right after that, they jumped to $175, then jumped way above $200.

Haven't seen them or a comparable set for under $250 since.

That being said, a young coworker asked me the other day, "does our medical insurance costs ever go down from year to year", I just chuckled and said "nope, so just get used to it". Point being, you can try to wait, but things typically get more expensive, hope for holiday sales and use cyber monday to try to offset this.

Of course, I remember my parents paying $1000 for an Apple IIgs in the mid-80s, so what do I know?
