I'm planning on upgrading from my pentium g3258 to an i5. Currently an i5 4570 sells for $110 and i5 4690 for $130. I'm gonna pair them with my current gtx 760.
My question is, which is the better cpu in terms of cpu intensive games? I like playing games like sims 4, civ 5, skyrim etc.
Also, is the $20 difference worth it? (I do mind that $20 since its like 2 weeks worth of allowance)

Thank you very much

Solution
There is a difference , its just not even close to the 15-20% price difference you'd be paying for it.

Essentially the 4690 is 5 or 6% faster , thats all.

The i5-4690 is a Haswell refresh processor part meaning that the TIM under the IHS was changed out and they had a slight higher clock speed when compared to the i5-4670.

I'd side with the i5-4690 in this case since a $20 increment nets you a higher clocked processor. Might I ask what the rest of your system's specs are?

Thank you for the fast reply!
Here's my current build:
Pentium g3258
MSI GTX 760 Gaming Twin Frozr IV OC 2Gb
8gb 1600mhz ddr3(4x2)
psu 500w (came with my case)
1tb hdd (alas, no ssd yet)

So in games like skyrim or civ 5, I can expect better fps then?

May I ask as well of there's really a great difference between the two? Enough to warrant the $20 additional cost and would I notice it in my gaming?
I would just like to make sure its worth it, because like I said, that $20 matter to me.

So if I do upgrade perhaps to GTX 1060 3gb in the future, the difference would still be basically negligible?
