Hi Guys,
I have a San-disk USB (it is metal the connector) and when i plug it in it works fine etc. But the thing is when I take it out the metal is burning hot. Is this usual for a USB to be this hot or is this bad.

It's perfectly natural for a USB to heat up whilst in use, but BURNING hot, should not happen.

it could be indicative of a USB on the edge of its shelf life, or your USB port could even be faulty. However I would sooner lean on the side of the USB being at fault. If it heats up no matter what USB port you plug it into, that would be evidence right there.

I would just make sure anything you have on the USB is backed up.

On a side note, some San Disk USBs do get quite hot to touch, and it is a regular complaint, but it shouldn't be very uncomfortable to hold, but keep everything backed up to be safe.

HI PC Tailor, Sorry let me reword it. It was my mistake.
It's not BURNING hot but it gets really warm after plugging it in to any USB Port even on more Surface or other PC's at school. At home I have like USB Dock port.

Thanks I will keep everything backed up.

Ah right, understood.

Getting warm/hot can be quite natural, as I said, some SanDisk model USBs are known to get quite warm/hot, and that's just more a design fault. But if it's not burning, it should be fine, you may just have a naturally hot running USB. The Surface generating a hotter USB is more likely because of the fact that your Surface is naturally generating a lot more heat than a regular laptop / desktop PC, therefore some of that heat distributes into anything attached in it.

Burning hot, is a different cause for concern! Yeah, always best to keep a backup anyway!
