So what is the meaning of wireless network adapter? and does Asus Maximus IX Hero have a
built-in wireless network adapter? Thanks in advance!

It's just a piece of hardware that'll let you connect to the internet through the Wi-Fi just as you'd do with a smartphone, but using your PC instead.

No, it does not. ( or at least i couldn't find it in this page https://www.asus.com/br/Motherboards/ROG-MAXIMUS-IX-HERO/specifications/ )

as far as I'm aware your motherboard doesn't have one
a wireless network adaptor is just something that allows you to connect to the internet without a direct connection like ethernet
