I'm looking to buy a fast router but the router doesn't show an adsl port. Is the adsl port compulsory for me to establish my wifi and home phone to work?

If your ISP require an ADSL connection for you to avail your subscription then you're going to need to look into a router that has and ADSL port. If you're ISP deals with a media converter and an Ethernet port leads out of said converter then you can look into a regular router.
Might I ask what your ISP is and where you're located? If you're in the Asian region, I'm sure you're only gong to need a regular router with a WAN port. e.g:

I live in the united kingdom and my adsl wire is connected to my phone line too. Although, would buying a new router increase my Internet speed?
