Friend Needs Upgrades

Ok, so a friend of mine has a pretty dated computer and is on a budget. He doesn't really "need" upgrades, but some quality of life upgrades to better play modern games will be more than welcome. I'll list his current specs below, and please let me know if there's anything small or cheap he can easily upgrade. His biggest concern is getting a new GPU and it working with his current motherboard/CPU. He's also got his eyes on a GTX 1050

Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-78LMT 3.0
CPU - AMD FX 6300 6 core 3.5 ghz
GPU - Nvidia GTX 650 Ti
Ram - 8gb

first GPU.
go for 1050 Ti. Should boost this up to med settings in most games 60 FPS.
second CPU tier change.
Find ryzen 3 or 5 depending on your $, you will need to replace MBO and ram also so this is heavier.

also think about adding SSD as boot, if you say its "old" machine its 99% HDD. SSD can give it second life for low cost.
