Computer specs are
Ryzen 7 1700x
GTX 1060 6GB
16GB DDR4 2400 ram.
Right now I have a 1080p 60Hz monitor and I am looking to upgrade.
First, will the GTX 1060 handel 1440p gaming at 60Hz?
If it will am I better off getting a 1080p 144Hz or a 1440p 60Hz?

Thanks for any help offered.

Well, FPS is better played at a higher refresh rate. however the bigger the monitor the more pixelated 1080p will get . So if you may see some bad quality with that 1080p. I would recommend a nice 24" 1080p at 144hz. Unless you are going to be amaze by the grass and water, I don't think you really need 1440p. 1080p should be good enough for you. You are going to be more worried about response, which 144hz (or 165) should do.

Not to mention, you will bring the 1060 to its knees when trying to do 1440p.
Well it depends on the game. Do are you ok with 60hz? Some people who play shooters complain that 60 is not fast enough, but that is jsut them. The 1060 can handle 1440, but not on the highest settings. Again, it depends on the game. It would also depend on the size of the screen you are getting. Are you going over 24"? If you are staying tat the rate, just stick to 1080p.
