I am buying a new gaming PC that has 8GB Memory DDR3 1866 and I want to take 8GB Memory DDR3L 1600 from my old PC to add to my new gaming PC. Are these two different types of ram compatible? And if they are compatible, will they run well with each other?

Thanks.

I have to question a gaming PC with only 8GB of DDR3 in it these days. DDR3 was last used 2 generations ago, so the PC is hardly new. Whats the specs?

As for the other memory there is no way to know for sure, and theres a good chance it will not work because the timings are likely far different. Also its a lower clock speed which will bring down the clocks on your other memory.

Here's the Amazon link, I know it's not the best PC but I'm on a budget.

DO NOT BUY THAT

Thats a huge waste of money. Old hardware, overpriced. Dont do it.

Do you have to buy a prebuilt system? If you can afford $680 you could build something WAY better.

How is it overpriced? I searched up all the specs and added the costs for each and it was about $650. For 30 dollars it comes prebuilt and it comes with a mouse and keyboard.

You can still build something better for that price!

Although the 1200 doesn't look as good on paper it is a much better CPU on a new platform with an upgrade path vs the 6300 with no real upgrade path and bad gaming performance.

Overpriced because the FX-6300 is a 5 year old outdated processor and not worth whatever you may have found it cost. The processor, motherboard, and ram are old, slow, and outdated

This is a great choice, Significantly faster, and a good upgrade path should you desire a better processor some day or GPU. It would handle both no problem.
