CPU Cores for turn based games

Solution
Games such as strategy, sims, and mmo tend to be largely single threaded and cpu limited.
Processing time per turn is reduced when the single thread performance is increased.

I play a lot of civ 2,4, and 5.
I keep a task manager open on a side monitor.
My observation is that I see about 30% busy on each of my 4 cores. That is a I5-7600K@4.9.
Yes, it does take a long time per turn on a big map with lots of elements.

It's been a long time since I last played one of those, BUT as far as I can remember, those games aren't very heavy on the pc. I for instance run heavy games such as Far Cry 4 and Crysis 3 and even Rise of Tomb Raider Anniversary without a problem on 4 cores only(I have a 6-core FX 6300) and no OC at all.

I've even turned the cpu voltage down by a couple notches using AMD Overdrive and the pc still runs all those games normally.

So I don't think running a turn based game will be a problem on 4 cores.
