Hi, I've got a Asus z170 Pro Gaming Motherboard that has a usb 3.1 Type C connector. I was wondering if I can plug any device? I tried plugging in this cable: https://goo.gl/images/eYbNBg and used a converter like this: https://goo.gl/images/KohocZ and plugged in a wlan stick, a card reader a hard drive and my phone. none of the devices were recognized, but in Windows Device manager it says Device is working properly.

Am I misunderstnading that port or what could be the issue?

Win 10 x64 Pro, drivers and bios up to date.

I did some more testing... drivers are all installed, all is fine. My galaxy s8 came with an usb type C to Usb Type A female adapter. I plugged that in and my devices were recognized. So the cable that I bought is this exact one: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01C40QHVO?ref_=pe_2105091_80804451_E_Asin_Title . I thought with this adapter https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B073PWP5FW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I could just use whatever on the other hand. But apparently not?
Does the USB Type C to USB Type A cable have to be a specific one for that purpose. I mean, does direction matter?? It seems like it to me, but I didn't find anyone dealing with an issue like that after googling a bit.
