Modern Intel CPUs idle at around 2 Watts. (I believe that figure was backed out based on temperature differential between idle and load, and known power dissipation based on TDP at load.)

So CPU isn't going to really matter for power consumption at idle - it's mostly other system components (motherboard, RAM, drives, etc).

They do indicate maximum TDP power consumption not idle. Looked on the intel site but did not see any specs for idle power consumption, not saying the info isn't available, just couldn't find it

Also what of the 7100 and 7300 they also have a 51w tdp say one of those are at 100% load and the 7100 is 50% load how much of a difference would there be also price difference for the CPU would you actually be able to save enough to make a roi on the initial cost and won't power consumption be higher on idle
