My computer has been "working on updates" for 30 hours and is stuck at 77% complete! I am not sure what to do? It tells me not to turn off my computer......but after 24 hours I did, when I rebooted it went right back to 77% complete.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is really affecting my small business.

Thanks for any help or suggestions :)

A few questions...

1 - What version of Windows is running on the device?
2 - Is this a laptop or a desktop?

Have you tried booting into recovery? Turn off the device and hit F12 (you can also try F8 or Shift + F8 or even Escape) repeatedly as you start the device. Once you are in recovery try to run the startup repair (which probably won't work but it might surprise you by doing something).

If that doesn't work try doing a System Restore - this can be started from the same page as the Startup Repair. System Restore will roll back updates, installed programs and settings to the last update. This usually resolves issue.

If that doesnt work you can Reset the PC which gives you two options: 1 - Wipe entire hard drive to factory settings (losing files and anything else) 2 - Reset Windows settings and programs but keep files.

HI Thank you for replying to answer your question this is a desktop and its runs windows 10! I tried the solutions that you suggested but nine of them work......I have turned off my computer, and disconnected from the internet and no matter what I do she re boots to 78% complete update. Is there anything else or is it just a loss cause?

Did you try to do a Reset with the 'Keep my Files' option? What happened when you tried and they did not work?
