I've been having some problems as of late regarding my internet connection only allowing me to use ~100mbps when I have a 300+mbps plan. I'm using an ethernet adapter with cat 6 cables running into both the adapters (one connected to the router/modem and one to my pc).

After replacing the previous Cat5 Cables with Cat6's and upgrading the modem to a newer model, provided by my ISP, I'm really not sure what else the problem could be here. Is there something I'm doing wrong here? My motherboard supports gigabit ethernet as well, if that may have been a factor to anyone. Any advice/help would be really appreciated!

If you used the old powerline adapters the ports are only 10/100 you can never go faster than that. I doubt the lan card in your machine was the problem it was that you were connecting it to powerline adapters that restricted the speed to 100m.

You are actually getting much faster speeds now that many people get. The speed you get is based quality of the wire in your house. The newer powerline adapters have gigabit ports so it should run faster but how fast depends on your house.

I doubt you will ever get 300m from powerline adapters. You need to read this chart and some of the reviews to understand why this technology will never come close to 1gigabit even with gigabit ports in the units...
The device you call a ethernet adapter is a powerline network device. It only has 100m ports on it. Pretty much shows that the manufacture knows the so called 500m number is a lie.

You will never get 300m even on the very best powerline units. Pretty much the fastest one run maybe 150mbps. You have to be careful about the marketing numbers. The marketing guys would call a gigabit ethernet 2000mbits if they rate them the way they do powerline and wireless except ethernet can actually send 1g and receive 1g at the same time unlike the other devices.

The only way you get 300mb is likely to run a ethernet cable directly between the router and your pc.

The 100mbps is confusing me too. I dont know why its not allowing me to use the full 300+mbps when my modem allows it and I have the proper equipment to handle everything.

Network card, I have no idea. It's passing through the Intel Gigabit LAN port on the motherboard.

The part number he links clearly says is has 2 ethernet ports not gigabit.

Not sure what sites you are looking at and how they test. One of the most respected sites shows that no av500 unit can exceed 100m in the most common test people do which is download.

So I decided to order a gigabit LAN card and new ethernet adapters. I'm not sure if that would be a fix to this problem.
LAN Card: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004F34ONC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Ethernet Adapters: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D7GF6NA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Some more details about the ethernet adapters: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1009103-REG/zyxel_pla5205kit_600mbps_wall_plug_gbe_powerline.html
The specs show they cover 10/100/1000m. Would this whole combination be a fix to this problem?

In all, upgrade your gear. BUT your home's powerline quality will dictate just how well your networking capabilities will be... Personally, I am more that happy that I doubled my connection speed from 90+ to 180+, despite the costs that went into the equipment. Totally worth it to me. But if you're on a budget, do some research into what you're buying.

Anyone with a problem similar to mine if not the exact same, and is skimming really quickly over this page to find the solution, I advise reading this thread to educate yourself a little bit more.

Update:
I purchased Cat7 cables for the hell of it as well as the new adapters I linked above + the new network card, everything seems to be stable and I'm getting 185+ download w/ ~25 upload. Touching on what said regarding the powerline quality of the house, you absolutely are correct about that - so I do think this is probably the best I'm going to get with the powerline quality I have here.

Here are the new speedtests --

I changed my order from the previous adapters I had ordered: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D7GF6NA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
To these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0173CGWFY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Just for the sake of having better quality equipment. However, I do think the previous adapters I WAS going to order would have sufficed just as well as the one's I actually did order.
