LED strips that don't just look like a line of dots?

So this has been annoying me lately. LED strips are, obviously, just a strip of individual LEDS. and that's probably the only way anyone has come up with to actually make one, but the problem is that while the light they give off can look good, the strips themselves, if you see them directly do not actually look very nice at all, as all you see is a series of coloured dots.

What I would so much prefer is an LED strip that is simply a fully illuminated line - as if it were just one really long LED. Something you could put in full view and have it actually look ok.

If you look at NZXT's Aer RGB fans, they have some frosted plastic covering the LEDs that do a pretty good job of hiding the individual lights, making it look like a single long light.

Are there any LED strips available that are like this? Or is there something I can do to cover the LED's to give the same effect?

Here's a diagram if I haven't explained myself very well:

You can buy it or build it yourself.
To build it yourself you need some heavy frosted glass or acrylic.. and I mean really really frosted and maybe even tinted alittlebit.
Or you can make the light come out at an angle + frosted glass / acrylic will do the same, since you will only get the glow then. And you would not need as mutch frost in the glass / acrylic.

They look good. Not RGB though, I don't imagine Electroluminescence can do that. Very little illumination too.

I could try that, hopefully It won't be too expensive.

I'm honestly suprised nobody makes LED strips like this.

I know the thread is almost a year old but in case you're still looking for an answer, you might wanna take a look at Coolermaster's universal LED strip. I don't know why they call it a strip when it's looks like a bar and it's also magnetic so you can place it anywhere metallic.

https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Accessory-Universal-Connector/dp/B0776YX8DT/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1527195563&sr=8-1&keywords=coolermaster+rgb+strip

I've only found 1 video review of the rgb bar and sadly the reviewer didn't have much room in his case to place it on so the RGB bar's light was kind of overwhelming but it should at least give you an idea of how it looks and performs.

Looking closely (1 light bar was included when I bought my coolermaster casemaker 5t), i can still see the rgb leds/dots but since the bar is covered in a white-plastic material, the light is diffracted making the bar have a fluorescent-like illumination.
