Best 550W 80+ bronze PSU

Solution
In India I would suggest you get the Antec HCG-620w. Its currently on sale but does cost a bit over 1000 extra import. This or get the Antec 380D that includes import fees and only has a 841 delivery fee. The Antec 380D can support upto a 1060 6GB as tomshardware did an build with the GTX460 that pulls more power.

A better question is "best psu for ~$75"?

I'll assume you can order through standard etailers:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16817376007 (good construction, overall good power delivery performance. 7 year warranty)

https://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=PS-SSR550R&c=CJ (this is a slightly dated product, but its still of solid construction and backed by a 5 year warranty)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139210&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= (corsair's new TXM series, contends well against the current champs - just not quite at the same levels of voltage control that Seasonic Primes and EVGA G3s have been putting out. Pretty good quality and 7 year warranty.)

For BRONZE levels...

Corsair CXM, and EVGA B3 are the two Bronze units worth recommending.

I would not recommend the above mentioned Seasonic M12II over either the CXM or B3 units. The M12II is a 4-year old design, and acceptable back then. The CXM and B3 are newer designs (the B3 being based off the Leadex Silver Platform, itself a variant of the Leadex Gold/Plat/Tit platform and a proven winner. The CXM is a CWT design of some, similar to the RM series.

Exactly, still solid units today.

yeah for 75$ I'd definitely go with a Bitfenix Whisper M or a Corsair TXM Gold

as for the Seasonic S12II / M12II, good units but a bit noisy under load
also if you're looking for maximum overclocks on a fairly cheap unit, there are better.
otherwise a fantastic design that has been used as OEM reference for many other units as well

The OP didn't say if he was going to do a new build in the near future or not, if so then yeah a newer unit would be better I think.

If they are going to keep the current build for awhile then the M12II would be fine.

even so.
the Corsair TX550M Gold can be bought off Amazon for 59.99$ currently
the M12II-520 is 54.90$ on Newegg + shipping

so I don't really see a reason to go for the dated Seasonic design atm.
unless the S12II, the M12II is a tad too expensive for what it offers imo

I am always thinking about what if....

Don't know how long the OP will be running the current machine before a new build and or what that may be.

That said I have a M12II 650W running a machine now and has been for 4+ years and another M12II 620W for over 7 years.

With my new build I went with the X-Series 650W though. (Looks like the Prime Series is slowing replacing the X-Series)

Thanks for the reply.. The only upgrade I will do is adding Graphic card in a month or so..Also I will never do overclocking stuff.

So whats your suggestion ?

Depends on how long you plan on keeping the current build.

If you are even thinking about a new build in the next year or 2 then go with a newer unit as suggested. You can transfer the PSU to the new build more than likely, buy it now rather than having to buy 2 PSU's.

I recommend thinking about it before you buy and what you end up buying.

I live in India, so rebates are not applicable for me.. I think I will go with CORSAIR TX-M 550W. Hope it is as good as Seasonic S12II

I will keep it for next 2-3 years, I think I will go with CORSAIR TX-M 550W. Hope it is as good as Seasonic S12II

I think you will be fine with that one, good quality unit. :)

Not so sure about better, but the TX is a newer unit and nothing wrong with it.

The S12II and M12II are some of the highest rated PSU's on Jonny Guru. (Scoring in the high 9's)

But yes they are getting dated now.

yeah but it was back in the day when he rated those units
back in the day those were the finest units out there
today the S12II wouldn't be rated above 9 (nonmodular, loud fan, no DC-DC converters, poor crossload performance)

the TXM is overall a bit better imo, although the capacitor selection in these Seasonics is still spectacular and a bit better

I like the X-Series and Prime personally for TODAY.

The Focus Series looks very nice also and very highly rated.

That's sticking with Seasonic. :)

They aren't too bad, better than those CX models.

Still can't recommend any of the CX models though, the TX yes.

But then I don't normally recommend budget models at all.

One member here just had a CX 750 model burn up, all black inside, could have burned his house down. And he didn't have it that long.
