Hi guys, i was going to upgrade my old pc for average gaming requirements.

Cpu: core 2 quad q9400
Gpu: msi gt 1030 lp oc
Mobo: gigabyte ga g41m combo
Ram: dolgix 4gb ddr3 1333

Now i see that the minimum requirement for gaming is 8gb ram, so i wanted to buy another 4gb stick. There seems to be too much incompatibility issues with buying another stick so i want expert advice. What all things should i look for if i were to buy from, say another brand?

This is the link to my current ram- https://www.amazon.in/gp/aw/d/B01C2USFQG/ref=pd_aw_sim_sbs_147_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=ZXZ4X5HF1PFVSPCNCR1P

My mobo memory specs-
2 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory (Note 1).
Dual channel memory architecture.
Support for DDR3 1333(O.C.)/1066/800 MHz memory modules.

It seems like getting a new pair of ram is what you guys advice... Okay then I'll go for it. Would something like transcend or adata be good enough or do i have to go for better brands?

@Lkaos: about my budget, i wanna keep it low as possible but i don't wish to buy something beneath the advised one's. Crucial and Corsair are all available in India so no need to import. Only thing is that they're pretty high priced here.

So which one would you guys advice? And i hope 4×2 would be better than 8 as my mobo only supports 8gb maximum.

Question from MEL1315 : "Help in choosing ram"

Hi guys i was about to go for a new ram for my desktop pc. There seems to be too much incompatibility issues between mobo and ram. So i need some expert advice...

My mobo is gigabyte ga g41 combo. mobo memory specs-
2 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory (Note 1).
Dual channel memory architecture.
Support for DDR3 1333(O.C.)/1066/800 MHz memory modules.

So my question is, can i go for the best ddr3 ram out there and will it automatically downclock to my mobo frequency? Also should i go for 4×2 or 8gb stick?

If someone is to advice me any particular one, then i wanna keep the price low as possible. Thanks in advance

I'm sorry, the question here was about adding another stick to my current desktop. so since i was advised to go for a new pair, thought i might make a new forum on that. Besides i haven't got any reply here waiting for about 10hrs. So felt like i should make the topic open to discussion yet again:)

If you find a 2*4 Gb kit, go for it...Transcend and Adata are fine...With the kit you get dual-channel
