Which B350 MicroATX mobo?

I'm having trouble deciding between 3 mATX boards for a R7 1700X HTPC build


  • ASRock AB350M Pro4
    Gigabyte AB350M-Gaming 3
    Biostar Racing B350GT3

    Honorary mention: MSI B350M Mortar

I tend to go for MSI and I've already built 2 Ryzen systems using the Mortar. I would have gone for it a third time but I'm curious if any of the other 3 may be a better choice now that they've all been around for a while.

I've narrowed it down to these 3 (4), because of their memory support and PCI-e layouts.

I'm looking for decent audio, although it's not a dealbreaker, good OC'ing support and an update utility similar to MSI's Live Update utility

1| MSI's Live Update utility is pretty much hit or miss since the app can brick your motherboard when asked to perform a BIOS update.
2| I'd suggest getting the ASRock board becuase it has a better audio codec onboard and the extra heatsink over the top of the board for cooling the VRM's. But I don't see any harm going for a Biostar board, it's got a 5050 LED header.

3| You sure you're not needing a X370 chipset board?

Yeah I've heard using the LU Utility for a BIOS update is asking for trouble. It's only takes a minute to update from the actual BIOS so I've always just used that, but for mobo drivers I'm a fan.

I don't think X370 is worth it for me to be honest - all of those boards are available for <£100 - for a PC that's going to sit in the living room, I don't really think the extra cost of X370 is worth it. In saying that though, I haven't looked into it too much; B350 has sort of been "good enough"

Edit: I don't think there even are any mATX X370 boards?
