Is combining 1gb stick with 2 4gb sticks can cause harm to the computer?

I want to get additional 8gb of ram to my rig, which now has 2 4GB 2133mhz DDR4.
I got a bargain on Corsair 8GB Kit (1x 8GB) 2133 MHz CL15 288-Pin DIMM DDR4 RAM Memory (CMV8GX4M1A2133C15) from a friend who isnt using it, and can give it to me real cheap.
Should I go for it? can it cause harm?
I mainly just game, I don't do any video editing or content creating etc...just gaming on 1440p with sometimes browsing and downloading stuff on the background.
Thank!

I doubt it will work "out of the box". Their timings are different. If you can get to your BIOS and change ithe timings it might work.

After you install them but before you turn it on I do recommend a CMOS reset. Leave PC unplugged and remove the CMOS...

All I can offer is a maybe. It won't harm it. On a side note, do they both have a CL of 15? Usually adding identical RAM won't cause any issue. The problem is that they weren't sold in a kit. There is a possibility it won't work. 95% of the time it will be fine. The other 5% end up here and at other tech. forums asking us why.

Please list your system's specs like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

If you must upgrade your ram, you should go for a kit that comes from the factory, binned and matched to run in tandem. Using single sticks of rams to make it seem like it's s kit often produce instability issues. It's bad practice to mix and match ram sticks.

Test? Memtest86 https://www.memtest86.com/

Windows 10 also has an integrated memory test https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff700221.aspx.
