Hi

I have just moved into a new place and facing issues with internet. The ISP (same ISP as my previous place where my setup was working fine) has no clue what they are doing.

I cant get my Airport Extreme working with it at all. The only way I have any internet is to connect my mac via ethernet to the ISP wired router, then I end up with an IP address on my mac the same as the external public IP (91.7xx.1xx.xx) "Using DHCP" setting on my Network Preferences

Sorry if thats confusing, any idea where to start troubleshooting?

Solution
Yes. If nothing else is connected to the modem/bridge then the Airport extreme should get a public IP address on the WAN and act like a router.

TBH I figured it was a modem/router. It has 4 ports GE1-GE4 and 2 ports for the phone line POTS1-POTS2. Its a Calix T072G so a home gateway?

Ports GE1 and GE2 are wired to two different LAN ports in the house

Looking at the documentation, it could be configured as a router or a modem. You really need to contact your ISP to understand what this device is supposed to do. Since, when connected to the ethernet, you get a public IP, I believe it is functioning as a modem/bridge. Your ISP may be able to reconfigure it to a router if that is what you desire.

Thanks.

Had them out today and they still don't have a clue. Their solution is "contact Apple". If it is supposed to act as a modem/bridge I should just be able to use my Airport Extreme in DHCP mode shouldn't I?
