I plan to upgrade my computer from my FX-6300 and GTX 950 later this year (hopefully when prices drop on RAM or GPUs), but I don't think my aging power supply will cut it. I currently have a 700w OCZ ModXStream, which isn't half bad for my current components and would actually pull about the same amount of watts when switching to the new parts. I would, of course, like to overclock the Ryzen to at least 3.8GHz, which I've heard really brings up the power consumption on those chips. Additionally, AFAIK, the GTX 1070 needs more connectors from the PSU than I have (not personally a fan of adapter cables either).
These are the components I plan to be using:
R5 1600 @3.8-4.1 GHZ (mayyyyybe R5 1400, but Black Friday sales will dictate that)
Hyper 212 EVO (I have it laying around)
8 GB RAM, likely 2666-3000 (will upgrade to 16 when prices fix)
GTX 1070, will likely overclock when performance starts to be a bit slow
240 GB SSD (non-m.2)
1TB HDD, 7200 RPM
B350 MSI PC Mate/Tomahawk
I'm currently considering the S12II 520W from SeaSonic (maybe 620W), but if my 700W OCZ would still work fine, I wouldn't have an issue with it. It's mostly the concern that mine is about 6 or 7 years old by now, but power supplies aren't really my strong suit for computers.
The PSU claims to have 150W on the +5V, 552W on the +12V.
According to PCPartPicker, the TDPs would equate to 349W, which I assume would wind up closer to 500W in actual use.
