Hi everyone,

I'm building a pc at the moment and came across a great offer from a friend. He wants to sell me his two older r9 280's for the same price as a 1050ti. I would have to spend some 20$ on a stronger PSU.

Is this worth it? I know the r9 280 and 1050ti are somewhat evenly matched, but is the 20$ plus hassle and complications of using crossfire and hoping the games i play support it worth it? Would i possible need to also buy some more case fans? (as an example of extra hassle+complications)

The cpu I'll be using (if someone can point out to me how much it'll bottleneck):
Ryzen 3 1300x
(this is a budget build)

Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

In 2014 the 280 launched with a price of around $280, so thats around $460, and the 1050ti currently costs around $150. Considering the fact that its a little old tech and not all games scale well to SLI/Crossfire, and assuming that the cards are working fine, its still a good buy, provided that you check the performance of the cards before taking them.

Yeah, after some thought I decided I wasn't going to do it. This is my first build and i decided to keep it simple. The two 280's were in fine condition but i know for sure he pushed them decently hard. That and combined with the hassle of returning a recently bought 1050ti and power supply and waiting for another psu, as well as having to keep a close eye on temps, I just decided it wasnt worth it.
Thanks for your help though!
