Is the Z370 motherboard worth the upgrade?

I know that there are obvious incremental improvements in new motherboards (better chipset, support for faster RAM, etc.). But here's the question - is it really worth it?

I own an Asus Z97 Pro WiFi motherboard currently. I enjoy 10 SATA Ports, 2 USB 3 headers (which my Thermaltake tower 900 needs), 2 USB 2 headers (for my 2 NZXT Hue+), 6 fan headers. A new top of the line Z170 has 6 SATA ports, a single USB 3 and 2 header, the same number of PCIe ports, everything.

I acknowledge that these are not deal-breakers for me. But what would prompt me to upgrade? They new MoBos even look exactly like the previous ones. Ergo, no incremental aesthetic value either. Isn't it simply not worth it? Or am I thinking about this all wrong?

Solution
with newer mb there only so much room on the io ports on the back. most new mb have 2-3 usb ports that can be used with the right cable thta would fit in one of the back pci slots on all cases.

That I completely understand. But even in that situation, how do you deal with the fact that a brand new top-of-the-line MoBo today, lacks the number of ports that I had 3 years back! Is there no escaping that? How do the manufacturers justify that? Is it perhaps that the very demand for these ports has simply reduced?

Probably a crude analogy, but it seems like Samsung would launch a new flagship with a 5 MP camera, compared to the previous generation which had an 8 MP camera (I am aware that the MP count does not directly translate into better picture quality, but its the best analogy I could come up with).

You get a motherboard model, that has all those ports you need. There are plenty of models to choose from.
If your requirements are even higher than on any available option, then you get pcie add-in card, that provides all those missing ports. Simple.

Okay. I guess I'll wait for the new Z370 lineup to lookup the features. Fingers crossed, I'll find at least one motherboard which has all the features that I want.
