I've decided to build a dedicated gaming server for my friends and I. Instead of renting one for each game or renting one in general, I can just build one and run and maintain it my self.
I have an older PC I was going to transfer the parts from into a case and such, I was wondering what kind of things I would need to put in specifically the CPU. We are only going to have 1, possibly 2 servers running at once (Ex. Stellaris, and Arma) as well as maybe a website.
I was going to put 8GB of DDR4 2400 RAM in it along with maybe a 500GB SSD. Other then that Im not sure what to put in.
CPU: ??
CPU Cooling: ??
MOBO: ??
Memory: 8GB DDR4 2400
Storage: 500GB SSD?
Power-Supply: 450W?

The biggest downside of building a gaming server is that you have to use your internet bandwidth rather than the hosting service. You also do have to open well known ports in your home firewall. That does increase your security risks.
