Intel price drops?

Hi i'm wondering whether intel will drop the price of skylake and kaby lake after the release of coffee lake. I'm unsure whether to wait before upgrading. Also does anyone know if coffee lake will work in a skylake mobo?

It is impossible to predict. Typically Intel does NOT drop the price of previous generation CPUs by much when their new ones come out. The presence of Ryzen MIGHT change that, though, when Coffee Lake comes out. Hard to say.

As to whether Coffee Lake will work in a Skylake motherboard - what I'm hearing so far is that the answer is no, but I haven't paid really close attention.

As above Intel don't usually drop prices by much. My guess is a very small drop and then supply will dry up and Skylake & Kabylake will disappear from the shops. Although not officially confirmed all information is pointing to Coffee Lake only working with new 300 series motherboards.
