Installing windows 8.1

Hi all,
I have just been done with my pc build and are about to install windows 8.1.
The question is how do i install it?
I haven't bought anything yet but was thinging of getting a key code.
Can i install windows with the key code or do i need to install it by dvd/ usb?
If not pls tell me how to install windows with the key code.

you install it through a usb for free but it will not be activated.

Key code is only for activation purposes, but you still need physical version (either on DVD or USB) to actually install OS on disk. If you buy only key (online or otherwise), you can download the necessary ISO from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8 then make a bootable DVD or USB with it.

okey,
another question while you're here. Is there a big different between windows 8.1 and 10?
Is 8.1 like slower or something?
Or is it kind of the same?

Will 8.1 affect my games compare with 10?

You won't see difference in games. Mostly, it's how the desktop looks and feels. Computer speed will be same, no mater which OS you use.
