Replacing 2013 X51 GeForce GTX 660 with Geforce GTX 1070

I have an old X51 with a Geforce GTX 660 and an i7-3770.

Right now I am buying parts for a later custom PC build, I already have an actual tower case, plus a 700 W PSU. Right now I am buying the GeFOrce 1070 and the website says: Minimum System Power Requirement (W) 500 W.

Here is my question, should I just move my X51 into the new tower with the 700 W PSU, or for now leave my X51 in its original case, and somehow plug in the 700 W PSU to be able to run the GeForce 1070.

The X51 has an external PSU that is only 330 W, and I know that won't be enough for the GeForce 1070.

I am just wondering how I would go about this issue?

Solution
The GTX 1070 does not draw 500 Watts under full load no matter how hard you push it overclocking. It required a minimum of 500 because it accounts for system load.

The X51 can go as far as powering a GTX 680. My suggestion would be to do as you said, move your 700w into the new tower along with with x51.

Thank you for your quick answer, it validated my assumption. Is there anything else I need to watch out for when moving the X51 components into my new tower? Or can I literally take the screws out, and transfer it as is into the new tower?

Can I also put another old harddrive into the new rig? Right now I only use the X51 SSD and an external hard drive.

If your case is able to fit the X51 PSU into it then yes, if not then you will have to jerryrig it, but it should fit as most are standard fits for mid towers. Make sure you do proper handling of the hardware by grounding yourself to the case or anything metal so that you do not worry about static discharge, also perform this task off the carpet and no where near rugs or carpet that could build up static electricity. You can put as many harddrives in your PC as long as you have the power cables and sata cables provided from your PSU, you should be able to fit atleast 3 harddrives including 1 SSD at the most.

looks like r2 and r3 can do it with the 330w brick, may want to find a shorter version of the card than a founder edition.
