you know that making the timings worse so that you can run a higher frequency can reduce performance?

I bought a 2800MHz ram that was meant for Intel, but got it for a Ryzen. The odd clock times were pretty funny. However, there weren't any 2933MHz ram atm of buying my PC so I got the highest ram speed possible. (I got 2800MHz for the same price as a 2133! $72.99)

The better die tend to get binned for use on faster DIMMs, it is all luck-of-the-draw (silicon lottery) beyond there.

IF you can increase the frequency without increasing the timings go for it, if you can decrease the timings without decreasing the frequency go for it. My gut feel (and only my gut feel) is that 2-3 frequency steps are needed before relaxing timings becomes useful.
